after our recent Ranger games at UCC I got the impression that I have need for a couple of more markers to get the game going and a bit more excited.
Simply does not look that good if you simply put the turret on the side of a knock out tank as well as a smoke bombardment of artillery doesnt look that impressive if there is nothing really happening. As you might recall the "Action" Markers in one of the posts a bit earlier this week I did a bit of special now to get them on to fit to a turret.
What did I need:
- cotton wool
- 5 cent Euro piece
- colours
- matt varnish
- party sticks or similar
- Glue
Step 1: Take a party stick or something similar and glue it nearly in the center of the 5 cent euro piece. The 5 cent piece fits across the "hole" left if the turret is replaced when the tank is knocked out. It fits that perfect that it does not fall down easily but can be removed without any incidents
Step 2: Wait till the party stick (or whatever) is dry and sticks fix on the 5 cent piece.
Step 3: take the cotton wool and glue. Take the glue around the stick and softly apply a bit of larger parts of cotton wool to it. Wait till dried and then tear the wool in shape of the cloud you want to build up. Be careful not to tear it apart ! It is supposed to be still one mayor piece.
Step 4: then you reached the shape of your desire take matt varnish spray (also hair spray ultra should do the job) and us it to hold your shape as it is.
Step 5: wait till dried. Then apply black matt basecoat (always be aware not getting to close as this is something wet and might ruin up your shape (even with varnish or hair spray already in the wool).
Step 6: Use your favourite fire paints (yellow, orange, red , etc..) and start carefully painting the pillar up. If you want them as smoke markers just leave them after the basecoat as they are.
Happy building.
Result:
That's much better than the PVA glue-soaked wool versions I attempted. Kudos.
